Are you prepared for the extreme weather that comes during winter months?
Here are a few tips to keep safe during extreme winter weather:
Step 1: Make a Plan - Take 20 minutes to sit down together and draft an emergency plan. It should include a communication plan, a meeting spot outside of your home and neighbourhood, an evacuation plan as well as an emergency contact list.
Step 2: Build a Kit - An emergency survival kit should have everything needed to provide for at least three days immediately following an emergency. Often called a 72-hour kit, it should include items like water, food that won't spoil, first aid kit, cash, important family documents, emergency plan, wind-up or battery-powered flashlight, manual can opener, and more.
Step 3: Be Informed - During an emergency, stay tuned to local news channels and the Township of Southwold's website and social media. Adding a portable, battery-operated radio to your kit will provide access to news in the event of a power outage.
