Tips for going Zero Waste |
- #1 - Replace single use items like plastic water bottles, grocery bags or coffee cups with reusable options like stainless steel cups and canvas bags.
- #2 - Pack a lunch! It reduces the use of disposable containers and singe serve packaging.
- #3 - Go paperless. Opt for electronic form if possible, and when you do need to print, recycle any paperwork no longer needed.
- #4 - Find a farmers market. Commercial food is marketed and sold in plastic packaging to extend shelf life. Local farmers often sell package-free.
- #5 - Compost. The Township of Southwold offers one (1) complimentary composter or digester to residents in rural areas, and an Organics Program in urbanized areas. Check out the Garbage and Recycling page for more information.
- #6 - Swap instead of toss. Share books, shop second-hand, attend a clothes swap or donate to reduce waste.
