The Township of Southwold calculates your property taxes each year based on your property assessment and the current tax rate from the municipal budget.
We send out tax bills twice per year through regular mail, unless you have signed up to receive your bill by email. The interim bill is mailed out during the second week of March. Payments for this billing are due the last business days of March and May. The final tax bill is mailed out the second week of August. Payments for this billing are due the last business days of August and October.
Please note that failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse a taxpayer from the responsibility for the payment. It also does not relieve them of liability for penalty on late payment.
We do offer pre-authorized billing for residents. Complete the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan Form to enroll in pre-authorized payments. If you would like more information, please contact the Township Office at 519-769-2010 or by email.
In the Township of Southwold, we calculate your property tax based on the value of your property after a property assessment from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) and the current tax rate which is set each year during the municipal budget process.
