It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Reeve Kenneth Monteith.
Ken was first elected to Council as a Councillor January 13, 1975. He served two terms as Councillor, until he was elected as Deputy Reeve December 6, 1978. In December 1980 he was elected Reeve for the first of two terms that he served.
During his term as Reeve, he was also elected as Warden of Elgin County in 1980.
In 1988, he was elected to the first of two terms as the Member of Parliament for Elgin.
Ken was a very active member of the Southwold and Elgin Communities. He was also very involved in fundraising and supporting many different local charities and causes.
As we receive more information regarding funeral arrangements, we will share.
