Work Completed This Week:
- Site preparation work, including the installation of silt fencing and straw bales to protect drainage infrastructure.
- Laydown areas prepared for equipment and material storage. The laydown area on Fairground Street has been limited in size and fenced to ensure overflow parking for events like Rosy Rhubarb and the Tractor Pull.
Work Planned for April 1-4:
- Finalize site preparation
- Monday - Asphalt pulverization from Fairground Street to Corsley Park
- Tuesday-Friday - Begin sewer installation, starting at the future wastewater treatment facility south of Corsley Park
Road Closure and Access:
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Monday with flag persons to accommodate pulverizing.
- Union Road will be closed to through traffic from Fingal Line to Talbot Line starting April 1st, 2025. Residents in Fingal and South of Shedden (McDiarmid to Fingal) will have unaffected road and property access.
- Local traffic will still have access to properties in the construction zone. Driveway access will continue as normal and access to Corsley Park on Union Road will remain open this week; approaching the entrance from the North on Union Road.
- Emergency Services will maintain access and drive through the site throughout the project.
- Bus companies have received advanced notice of the closure. For questions about impacts or changes to pick-up or drop-off, please contact your bus service through mybigyellowbus.ca.
- Garbage pickup will continue as usual. Place garbage and recycling at the end of the driveway as normally done, marking containers with addresses. If collection is impacted, the contractor will collect and return the bins to the property on collection day.
